Another fine place about Table-Top Sports Gaming
Welcome to one more place to talk about
Table-Top Sports Board Games.

In the late eighties - early nineties I used to snail-mail a quarterly newsletter entirely in Italian modestly titled "SPORTS CENTER". It used to carry a very small nucleous of hard-core (and very opinionated) fanatics which contributed sparingly, leaving myself the burden of inventing 16 pages every three months. I even produced a free supplement featuring the two best Italian basketball teams of the '70 for Statis-Pro Basketball.
Not that it was difficult at the time.
Table-Top Sports games used to have many more game companies than in 1999, so games surfaced pretty regularly, and we had something to talk about. Suddenly, as mysteriously as the dinosaurs disappearance from the earth, in the mid-'90 TTS games/game companies disappeared in the span of few months, and SC followed soon. I did not wanted to became a collector of crying peoples about defunct-os.
Besides I wanted TO PLAY my games also!
To tell the truth, we knew what happened and why TTS games/game companies disappeared all of a sudden. Mostly was due to the explosion of the PC Gaming market.
But in a surprising and (almost) circular turn of the events, the following steps - the advent of cheaper electronic PC/printing devices and the booming internet phenomenon - revitalized many cold bodies in a sort of Jurassic Park of sportsgaming. Or, if you are a sci-fi addict, like returning from somewhere else lost in space travelling through hyperspace, sports boardgamers started to gather again, and mostly, started to chat again about their favorite good ol' games they used to play.
Actually the best place to find is Jim Gordon's web page and its Sports Gaming Digest e-mail weekly bullettin, which usually stops many of us from whatever we are doing right after we have downloaded it from our mailbox (BTW subscribe to it! It's free and it's a beauty!).
And now?
The underground appearances of new games (like Keith Avallone' Second Season football game) or the returning oldies (like Replay Baseball) may be the sign of something's coming?
Frankly this is my hope.
So, why not giving it a chance? My Sports Desk section of my web page is right for this.
Board games, my internet boardgaming, tremors, rumors, news (hope plenty of it), links, opinions and debates (even at large) about TTS games.
In the end a new version of Sports Center, but with an extremely relaxed schedule of updating, also because some of the work shall be done in Italian (or I have some translating task to accomplish).
But with the music of YES and Frank Zappa blasting from my speakers in the background, things looks affordable.
Enough said.
